How big can you print it?
Standard frame sizes, turned to match the artwork. "Crops" is how much of the picture you lose filling that frame edge to edge — or keep it all and let a mat take up the difference.

The ticket
Hail Mary (Ia Orana Maria) is a work on paper by Paul Gauguin (French, Paris 1848–1903 Atuona, Hiva Oa, Marquesas Islands), dated ca. 1893–95. Fabricated charcoal, red chalk, and white pastel on formerly blue wove paper, mounted on millboard with strips of rose-colored wove paper along two edges. Size on the museum record: 23 1/2 x 14 3/4 in. (59.7 x 37.5 cm). The Metropolitan Museum of Art holds it in its Drawings and Prints collection — Bequest of Loula D. Lasker, New York City, 1961.
The Met catalogs Hail Mary (Ia Orana Maria) as a fabricated charcoal, red chalk, and white pastel on formerly blue wove paper, mounted on millboard with strips of rose-colored wove paper along two edges by Paul Gauguin. The museum dates it ca. 1893–95; it sits in the Drawings and Prints department as accession 61.145.2. Spend a minute with the composition before choosing a size: notice where the eye lands first and where it rests. The Met's scan measures 2,564 × 3,722 pixels, which prints about 8.5 × 12.4 in at 300 dpi and 17.1 × 24.8 in at a still-comfortable 150 dpi. Because it runs tall, it wants a vertical frame; compare the crop percentage across sizes before you choose. Its warm reds and oranges suit walnut or gold, which deepen the glow instead of washing it out. Works on paper are quiet. Print near the original's scale instead of blowing it up, and keep it out of direct sun like the museum does. A warm picture light a few inches above the frame does more for a print than any paper upgrade, and the hanging centre line belongs near 57 inches.
The Met released its scan under CC0, which means no permission, no fee and no credit line required. That file is 2,564 × 3,722 pixels — 9.5 megapixels — good for a gallery-sharp print up to 8.5 × 12.4 in. The work on paper itself measures about 14.8 × 23.5 in, so a true life-size print runs below 300 dpi — still sharp at normal viewing distance.Works on paper are quiet. Print near the original’s size rather than blowing it up, mat it generously, and keep it out of direct sun — the same rules the museum follows for the real one.
