The ticket

Harmony in Yellow and Gold: The Gold Girl—Connie Gilchrist is a painting by James McNeill Whistler (American, Lowell, Massachusetts 1834–1903 London), dated ca. 1876–77. Oil on canvas. Size on the museum record: 85 3/4 x 43 1/8 in. (217.8 x 109.5 cm). The Metropolitan Museum of Art holds it in its The American Wing collection — Gift of George A. Hearn, 1911.

The Met released its scan under CC0, which means no permission, no fee and no credit line required. That file is 2,022 × 3,874 pixels — 7.8 megapixels — good for a gallery-sharp print up to 6.7 × 12.9 in. The painting itself measures about 43.1 × 85.7 in, so a true life-size print runs below 300 dpi — still sharp at normal viewing distance.Paintings reproduce best on matte paper. Gloss throws glare across exactly the brushwork you came for, and a picture light does more for a print than any upgrade in paper.
