The ticket

Reclining Nude with Outstretched Left Arm is a work on paper by Gustav Klimt (Austrian, Baumgarten 1862–1918 Vienna), dated 1903–1904. Graphite. Size on the museum record: Sheet: 13 7/8 × 21 1/2 in. (35.2 × 54.6 cm) Frame: 23 × 29 × 1 1/2 in. (58.4 × 73.7 × 3.8 cm). The Metropolitan Museum of Art holds it in its Drawings and Prints collection — Bequest of Scofield Thayer, 1982.

The Met released its scan under CC0, which means no permission, no fee and no credit line required. That file is 3,737 × 2,406 pixels — 9 megapixels — good for a gallery-sharp print up to 12.5 × 8 in. The work on paper itself measures about 21.5 × 13.9 in, so a true life-size print runs below 300 dpi — still sharp at normal viewing distance.Works on paper are quiet. Print near the original’s size rather than blowing it up, mat it generously, and keep it out of direct sun — the same rules the museum follows for the real one.
