The story
Van Gogh painted the Sunflowers series to hang in the bedroom he was preparing for Gauguin in Arles. It was hospitality. It was also an argument about what yellow could do.
Almost every print of it is over-saturated into orange. Look for a version where the background yellow and the flower yellow are clearly different yellows. If they are the same, skip it.

- Matte over glossy, always. Glossy reproductions fight every light source in a real room.
- Go one size larger than feels sensible. Undersized art is the most common mistake there is.
- Hang the centre of the piece at 57 inches from the floor. Non-negotiable.
- A three-inch mat costs about eighteen dollars and does more than a two-hundred-dollar print.
